Appleworks Ideas??

I mentioned in a recent blog that I teach ICT one day per week at Rhu Primary school and this is to cover Mcrone time. Currently I am teaching Appleworks to pupils in P3,4,5,and P7. There is quite a range of abilities, so I am teaching basic word processing to the younger children, and I have moved on to using the Drawing programme within Appleworks with the P7s.
We will be making crosswords and wordsearches within this programme, and I am also planning to make newsletters with inserted images. However, I am sure there are plenty of people out there who have been creative with Appleworks and I was hoping that a few of you might be able to share any ideas you had about how you have used the programme.

    Hi Sat
I have a few ideas for using AppleWorks. For the past couple of years I have been taking a course at ICC on Desktop Publishing using AppleWorks. We will get togethet at SETT to swop ideas!

    Hi Sat
Unfortunately, as you know, I can’t really help. Sounds like Alastair has some good ideas and you may also get some more @ SETT anyway.

    Hi,
sadly I don’t get the chance to use AppleWorks much anymore, but I used to get the children to make class plans on a drawing document.
Draw furniture with basic shapes, group shrink and duplicate.

Haven’t used Appleworks for years, however, I used to create slide show animations with it. You know, comic book stuff only when you run it, it appears as an animation. Kids design the background, draw the images and animate. Great fun.

You can also creat web pages with links. Drag and drop matching exercises (which the kids make up not you). You can create nice spreadsheets with charts for surveying. Etc, Etc Happy Appleworking.

I used to have the p6 and 7’s make simple slideshows to use with P1&2’s, adding on 1 and 2, alphabet games with appropriate clipart etc.
